Play is movement between order and chaos

For some time now I’ve wanted to start a blog. More to record my thoughts on playfulness and my experience in play design than anything else. I wasn’t sure what would be a good medium for this, if it should be online or just a notebook, if it should be private or shared. For now I’ve decided on this blog. We’ll see if it works.

You see, I’ve been working on a PhD on designing play for two years now and new ideas have formed in my head, others have proved false or unimportant and just a few stayed. But I’ve been very scattered in storing them somewhere so I find it hard to find them all.

I know what you’re thinking. “You should start actually writing for that doctorate and that will be the record you want”. But I actually want a less structured archive, that includes also the unimportant and the forgotten, the things that I started but never finished. More of a process-notebook than anything. Less academic, more authentic.

And I want to open this process to others, to hopefully find opinions and support on the matter. I hope you will find this interesting and join me on this journey. Please tell me if you are interested on the subject of play and playfulness, if you’ve ever thought about a situation or an object from the perspective of how you can play and have fun with it.
